Unbelievable what can happen in a week

Tommorow I am headed to Pennsylvania to be with my Grandmother who is in the hospital and is not doing well. I am excited to see her and my parents, but not so much under the circumstances.

There has been continued news about the teaching among the Inanbimali in Papua New Guinea along with prayer requests. Please check out the news and prayer sections of our NTM site for these updates. I am making a concerted effort to keep the prayer requests section of our website updated and fresh so that you know how best to pray for our family. We enjoy the opportunity of lifting you up before the Lord as well, so keep the prayer requests coming, and if you haven't sent us a prayer request yet...go ahead, we would love to pray with you!

Missionary Tech Tips I

This is the first of two courses to teach us how to handle the physical aspects of living in remote places. We are in our second day of class. Today we had a lab where we soldered using a “home made” DC Soldering iron. It is made out of the carbon rod from the inside of a regular batter, a small piece of PVC pipe to hold the carbon rod since it gets VERY HOT, VERY FAST. We hooked this up to a 12V car battery in order to solder. We created something called Helping Hands that we will use in future labs. It is basically an extra set of hands used for future soldering projects….as far as I understand.

The lecture today was about water purification. What a blessing to have a team of people that help us understand how to handle these difficult aspects of living in remote locations. The #1 Core value of the Tech Center is that time is a non-renewable resource. They are dedicated to helping speed the gospel to the ends of the earth

Form and Meaning
This class is about Bible Translation. We are learning about some of the issues that need to be considered when translating the Bible into another language. We are learning a lot about what is involved in translating the Bible and some of the challenges. What an awesome responsibility God has allowed you and me to be a part of. You and I may not actually be the Bible translator, but it takes a whole TEAM that all starts with Local Churches to get God’s word into the hands of unreached people groups.

We were in North Carolina for break and our internet access was via dial-up. Nice and slow. :) We were really glad to be able to have high-speed internet access again. :)
I will include some pictures from our time in North Carolina so as not to bore you with long sections of text. :)
We had a great time with Jenny's parents, sister and grandmother. It was so nice to see them. It has been a while since we were with Jenny's parents and so it was nice to catch up. They are working on building a house, and we spent some time helping out with painting and Dad and I made a valiant attempt at hanging bead board. I think that is what it is called. Anyhow, not sure how well we did, but we certainly did try hard.
The kids really enjoyed having some time with their grandparents. James especially enjoyed being "caught" in grandpa's "squeeze box".
We enjoyed spending time with the folks at Victory baptist as well. It was great to hang out and get to know them a little bit better. I was able to help with some small computer related things at the church and at the pastor's house. It was nice to be able to help out a little.
We had some nice walks on trails in the woods. The kids thoroughly enjoyed tromping through the woods and getting all dirty. :)
